WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

This is quite a beauty. Bigger flower than Lullaby Baby but similar plant size (and color). I am going to move it next to Dominic and Moonlit Masquerade next year, which I think will make a good combination.

Ruffled Apricot grows and blooms so well that I have clumps of it all over. A few weeks ago, a visitor stood outside my yard and said she had never seen such a beautiful color and would I share? Of course I did and gave her Oakes name and praises for large and healthy plants.. Zone 3 Wisconsin

Simply stunning. Just planted 2 in April and already sporting her huge, eye popping blooms in the most luscious shade of apricot. The bud count is impressive for its “first year” and I look forward to it becoming a bright focal point in my beds. When she started blooming yesterday, just stopped me dead in my tracks. Truly does deserve a place in every garden.

If you can only buy one this is it. I bought a “clump” about 20 years ago from a local lady that owned a small garden and she was thinning out her lilies. She didn’t know the name but the one I have and the description of this sound just alike. You will not find one any hardier, more beautiful or one that will multiply or produce more huge blooms than this. My blooms are actually 8″ on sturdy scapes. I have 22 of them in a curved row bordering a perennial and daylily bed and the effect of a group is stunning. I have the remaining 20 or so scattered throughout a natural area. Over the years I have divided many times and supplied many friends with this plant. In the fall (2012) I divided 6 large clumps and ended up with about 40+ plants. These are now blooming and most have at least 30 or more buds/blooms. Try just one! I would give it more than a 10. I love all of my daylilies but this is at the top.

This came as a free bonus plant with last year’s order. (As always with Oakes, the bareroot specimen they sent was huge.) Very impressed with the number of buds put up by Ruffled Apricot in its first full year. I’m already under the impression that this one’s gonna spread like a weed — but with far finer qualities than your average weed, such as large, well-formed blooms, great-looking foliage and dazzling color.

I have had Ruffled Apricot for three seasons now and it is very special, huge peachy orange blooms, long season and a very good multiplier in my zone 6 garden. Get at least one, three if you can, special ones like this look great planted in groups. You won’t be disappointed, I’m sure.

I first planted this in May 2005 and it did little during that summer- but this summer (2006), watch out! It was one of the best and most beautiful. I enjoyed it and although it was midway back in my border, it was very noticible with it’s big bright beautiful flowers.

Very beautiful! The flowers are huge and stand out well in my garden. The only problem that I see with them is that they tend to get a little wilty in our hot and humid summer climate. Maybe partial shading may help. Other than that, they are glorious!

First year growing Ruffled Apricot. The earliest bloomer of the beginner collection in our area. Blooms are very large; nearing 7 1/2 inches across. Nicely ruffled edges with blooms taking more of an orange sherbet tint. Many blooms with nicley proportional fans. No complaints and highly recommended.
