When I saw that Oakes was offering “Mancatcher” again this year, I had to post this review. This daylily is not a solid orange: it is orange, red, and yellow. All-around stunning! In my front yard garden (with at least 50 daylilies) this one gets the most compliments. My plant is 5 years old, and every year it pumps out the booms on tall scapes, over a very long blooming period. Highly recommended!

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 5

After reading the review from the lady from Sinking Springs, PA, I decided to see what all the fuss was about with this daylily. I ordered 6 and I’m so glad I did! It is everything she said. Mine just starting growing this week and they are outstanding! I too have many orange daylilies and they are gorgeous, but I love the bright color of this reddish-orange gem. One of my plants opened 3 buds today and my mouth dropped open. Gorgeous! If you like brash & bold in your garden color, you’ve got to try this one. I’m big into orange & gold and this beauty fits right in! (I also have Lady Lucille and love it!) Thanks Sinking Springs for the excellent review. I love Man Catcher as much as you do.

This one is so tall and gorgeous, it’s ridiculous! I have it planted with Caribbean Frank League and what a stunning display the two make, a fiery orange background to a beautiful black Daylily. This one just screams at you. It’s amazing!

Hold on to your hat! This one is really it and I am back for 3 more. I had lost track the names of all the daylilies I had planted the year before, but I dug down to find the name of THIS one so I could get more. It is the brightest flower of ANY kind in my 2014 garden, held high on strong scapes with a multitude of buds. I only like brights (nothing wimpy or pale) and this was like a blazing beacon from 100 feet away. I have dozens of daylilies and many other oranges; but am going to “lift and gift” some of the others to make room for more Man Catchers. It pairs well with Lady Lucille (which is shorter and later) for weeks of firey orange blaze that you can’t look away from!
