HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

this beautiful flower broadcasts a harmonious coloration of rose-pink petals and apple-green heart. the grace note is the golden edge on its elegantly ruffled petals. A vigorous grower that produces many blooms

  2. Pictures on website don't do this beauty justice

    Colleen Paschall (verified owner)

This daylily reminds me of years gone by. Small towns and gravel roads. I planted it in October of 2020 and had dozens of HUGE blooms may-july. It’s so whimsical and old fashioned looking.

This is another superior daylily. It’s a dormant and yet it is performing beautifully here in central Florida, including reblooming.

  5. Coeur D’ Alene, ID

I have had Country Melody in my garden for 14 years and it has always bloomed fairly well although with a range of 5 to 21 scapes and 60 to 300 buds. I don’t know for sure what causes the variation but it might be related to water and crowding and partial shading by a large clematis near by. I intend to divide it this year and remove some invading Iris. It is a tall and beautiful daylily although not as flashy as the newer cultivars. It is very hardy and increases fairly rapidly making a nice clump.

  6. Goodlettsville, TN

I rated this a ‘9’ based on the number of blooms. However, for the color combination and brilliance and substance, it would be ’10+’. It is a truly magnificent plant.

  7. Hazel Crest, IL

I bought this daylily several years ago from the breeder (zone 5). I’ve found it somewhat slow to increase, but the blooms are spectacular. Heavy substance, unbelievable color, beautiful edging – I can’t walk by this flower without stopping to admire it. Foliage is attractive even when the plant is not in bloom. This would make a great specimen plant in anyone’s garden.

  8. Mill City, OR

WOW!!!! I bought this one a couple of years ago without seeing a picture. And I was stunned when it bloomed. It was soooo much prettier than I thought it would be. The picture does not do it justice in. It is true to the color of the picture but more stunning. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
