Our East Tennessee farm is in planting zone 7. We typically begin to see this mid season bloomer around mid June. If you are to our north, you’ll see it a few weeks after we do. If you live to our south, you’ll likely see it a couple of weeks before us.
Excellent bud and branch count plus nice rebloom means you’ll be seeing these beautiful blooms again and again throughout the season.
Bali Watercolor is an evergreen daylily. This means it’s suitable to grow in gardens across the country.
We love to see these big, beautiful blooms planted en masse, but it’s equally gorgeous when planted with bold orange daylilies. Ken Oakes has it planted with Back Draft at his home and it’s a stunning combination.

WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

Wow! I had no idea Bali Watercolor would be so beautiful! Just added this daylily to my collection this spring – received from Oakes about a month ago, and first blooms today. I would not describe the color of Bali Watercolor as just lavender – it is more of a magenta-purple and lavender-purple bi-tone. So much prettier than I expected it to be. And the amazing thing about Bali Watercolor? Right after I took this photo a torrential downpour came through our area, with 40mph winds. I was afraid to look – I expected this daylily to be washed out, tattered, and broken down. But what did my eyes behold? There stood Bali Watercolor – looking like it had been barely sprinkled upon. The scapes were still standing tall, and the blooms were still vibrant and colorful, with no damage whatsoever. If you’ve been thinking about adding Bali Watercolor to your collection, stop thinking about it – and just do it! This daylily will add a touch of WOW to your garden:)
