WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!
ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I have many daylilies now, growing them for over 30 years. Alabama Jubilee is one of my all time favorites. Bright and beautiful. My neighbors love it too. First order from Oaks years ago and still amazing and blooming well. Our ridiculous Feb -3 deg. & two months over 100 deg didn’t hurt this power house. Several others died from it. It even repeats for me in Zone 8, Dallas, TX.

Alabama Jubilee is a beautiful, bright, prolific bloomer in my zone 5a garden. Despite droughts the past three summers, it has not only survived, but thrived, displaying its vibrant blooms over a very long period. It’s one of my all-time favorite daylilies!

I planted last Oct. and I had blooms starting May 13th in zone 8b Georgia. Strong, lots of buds, blooms that last all day. Beautiful up close with the ruffles, and far away. Hot orange and big flowers. Vigorous.

Although I didn’t get my Alabama Jubilee from Oakes, this variety is such a great performer here in my southern Ohio garden that I’ve had to divide it multiple times to share with friends. Every visitor is drawn to the vibrant bright orange color and sheer number of blooms. It’s got great bud count and just stands out among my many daylilies. I have it planted next to peach and yellow varieties so it really stands out! Highly recommend this one!

I planted Alabama Jubilee three summers ago. It was beautiful the first year, and then the second it was even better, and this year it was absolutely remarkable. Huge beautiful blooms that are so bright it’s like they’re lit by a light bulb, sturdy stems that stood up to a storm that took down enough trees that we had over 30 pick-up loads of branches to haul, and so awesome it felt like I was taking pictures every day because I couldn’t stand not to. I’m going to split this third year clump into three this fall. And did I mention how long it bloomed? First picture this year: June 28. Last picture: August 2.

I was not a big fan of orange daylilies but this one I received as a bonus has changed my mind. It is so bold and bright that I’m going to have to have more. I like that it is a darker orange and is stunning paired with purples like Bela Lugosi or Wayside King Royale. It really stands out and stands up well to the hot Alabama sun. It pops! It is a must have for anyone’s garden. I’m a new orange fan now.

I saw this daylily, (and bought it) at the daylily days at Oakes in 2021. It was so incredibly bright that I had to put my sunglasses on! If you need some sizzling hot color in your garden, this is an excellent choice.
