I was really disappointed with this last year, 1st year blooming, this year, so many blooms and much prettier!!!, I live in the Richmond, VA area, and mine does not have the gold edge? soil?, it gets plenty of water. This is still not the red I thought it would be.

This is my third year with Chinese Scholar and I am impressed. It has multiplied rapidly and this year through up lots of scapes. All blooms are doubles and true to the pics. I even gave one fan to a neighbor this spring and his is blooming nicely, too. I’m in central Texas, and they withstand the heat, though mine get plenty of water through a soaker.

I’ve had this daylily for a few years now. It only has double blooms occasionally here in Washington state. To bad because when it does, it is beautiful. Most of the time, not so pretty.
