HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I received this daylily as a free one. It’s the daylily I didn’t know I needed! The flowers are large on tall scapes and such a beautiful peachy color. In the first year, it had four scapes and so many blooms. I’m thrilled to have this in my garden!

  2. Georgia On My Mind

    amywlovett (verified owner)

I’ve got Lady Georgia’s pretty peach blooms on my mind as the daylily season winds up. I probably ordered these just a little too late in the spring for them to show off in my zone 8 butterfly garden. Either that or she’s just playing hard to get. The foliage is tall and healthy, so I was hoping for a surprise during rebloom time. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for gorgeous Lady Georgias next spring. For now I’d give her a 4 and will update next bloom season.

  3. Lady Georgia: Understated Elegance

Mary D.: Zone 8b (verified owner)

I am drawn to the bright bold daylilies, but I was attracted to the soft color of Lady Georgia. It has really captured my heart; it is such a lovely sophisticated shade of peach, actually better than peach, that blends quite beautifully with Wayside King Royal, or virtually any other color. This daylily is a special one indeed!

This is Lady Georgia’s 2nd year in my orange pollinator bed. Very beautiful in my Zone 8b Texas yard. Oakes has been my ONLY daylilly source for over 10 years. Nice big multi fan healthy bulbs.

    Huge Beautiful Blooms

    walterssk8 (verified owner)

This is new to my day lily collection this year. Planted 2 plants in with 15 other day lilies.. one bloomed and one didn’t. But! they are new plants and sometimes take a season to get established.. It also has been 100 degrees which is hard on new plants. The blooms I do have are large and lovely and the early bloom time will jump-start the beauty of the garden.. I do love the color of peach.. which is truly a peach.. not pink and not orange.

    A Georgia Peach

Beautiful big peach colored blooms that seem to bloom forever! Blooms on strong stems and is a vigorous grower in central Illinois. Bought it because my daughter lives in Georgia, but this bargain priced beauty has been one of my favorites in the garden.

If peach could be described as neon, that’s how this flower would be described!!!! It is absolutely glorious!!!! A big flower with clear, true, vibrant color that daily makes me stop and say, “Wow!” Vigorous grower; vigorous bloomer; I love everything about it! Last year was its first year to bloom, and the scapes were short and weak (most of them drooped over and almost touched the ground). But the flowers were so gorgeous that I loved them anyway and ordered more this spring (thinking that I would stake them if I needed to). Well, no reason for concern… they just needed to get a little older and stronger! This year the scapes are tall and strong and loaded with buds! I am shouting the praises of this beautiful daylily to everyone who will listen!

    Beautiful Color, Great Performer

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 8

This is the 2nd year in the border for ‘Lady Georgia’ and it is an eye catcher! Very large blooms on tall scapes which had to be staked because of the number of buds. Though this has been a dry summer and has turned very hot, ‘Lady Georgia’ has been a real trooper, quickly sending up new scapes as the first ones were finished blooming. The price is unbeatable for this beauty!

I purchased a number of LGs late last year to fill and stabilize a sunny slope, and was impressed by the plant size and care taken with packaging. The foliage came up beautifully in the spring and is, as in the description, an excellent, rich green. Beautiful big buds were set, and the first ones have now opened, revealing large and truly lovely blooms the color of a soft orange sorbet. We’re having a very dry and sunny year here in the PNW (Kitsap Peninsula, WA), so I don’t know how they’ll perform in our more typical weather, but they sure are putting on a great show this year — lots of compliments from the neighbors. For the price and the plant you receive from Oakes, LG is hard to beat. Thanks!

This lily is OUTSTANDING!!! Its been in my garden for a couple years now, always full of blooms. Its a hardy and drought tolerant. Southern Illinois had a horrible drought in 2012 I had to carry water to everything if I waned it to live. This lily even in those conditions put on a beautiful show…made me happy to carry water to it every day. This year its like that never happened just gorgeous bloomed for an entire month.

I have taken masses of pictures of my Lady Georgias, and pictures just don’t do her justice. I have a mass planting in between our back yard fence and driveway, and every time I drive down our alley and see her in full bloom, it brings me joy. The orange sherbet/creamsicle color is just beautiful. Highly recommend.

On a scale of 1-10, I give Lady Georgia a twelve ‘n a half. I’m not sure how many types of daylily I have, but it’s a whole bunch — best guess, between 40 and 50 — so although I can’t say Lady Georgia is my favorite (I don’t have a clear-cut favorite) I can say it ranks wayyyy up there. (Incidentally, the photos on Oakes site don’t do Lady Georgia full justice, no offense to the photographer). And when I say “favorite,” I don’t mean just the flower, I mean overall quality and hardiness — quality of foliage, strength and height of scapes, bud count, how fast it spreads and, of course, the flower as well.

This wonderful daylily bloomed for me in 2008 and I was just proud to have her in my garden. She gets partial shade but proud she stands and says “LOOK AT ME I AM BEAUTIFUL”. This daylily is a workhorse and beautiful to boot! When she finally stopped blooming I was sad but now I look forward to spring 2009. I will see her emerge again. TP

Absolutely wonderful! Stops me in my tracks everytime I walk in the garden. Very big and cheerful looking ! I ran out of room last fall when my order arrived and ended up sticking it in a spot near my peach tree.A big NO NO for some varieties. But it doesn,t care about the partial shade; it’s blooming away happily anyway!

How can you go wrong with this gorgeous bloom at such a great price! Many blooms and so beautiful and bright. Received another as a gift at the daylily festival last year and now have it in a bed on the other side of the garden. Love this very rewarding daylily.
