* 6 1/2″ bloom, 27″ tall, Mid-Late Season, Dormant

There is something special about a daylily that looks like creamy orange sherbet with a raspberry sauce eye. Very striking and popular in the garden.

Real Wind is always healthy, dependable and multiplies. Plus, it looks like a dreamsicle. Blooms for a month. Zone 5 (Illinois) plus it’s colder at my house because of winter winds and not always snow covered. A beautiful flower that looks especially good with cream, orange and purple.

  3. Real Beauty

    Mattie Mott (verified owner)

I ordered this daylily in very very early spring. Received this in May, and saw my first bloom today! As beautiful as I hoped it would be, such a sweet, creamy color combination that reminds me of sherbet! Not overly showing, but subtle loveliness that is very refreshing.

  4. Real Wind is a keeper.

    Donna Kudlicki

I asked for my bonus plant to be a fragrant one and was sent Real Wind. I don’t know why but I didn’t especially care for it. It grew well and multiplied and I divided it and then moved it into two different areas of my yard. The change did the trick for me, and now I admire it’s beauty and fragrance in both new spots!

  5. Stunning!

    Elyce (Peterson) Cripps (verified owner)

‘Real Wind’ is really exceptional! The foliage is upright and vigorous and the plant just blooms and blooms! I have mine planted next to a lavender perennial phlox and WOW. Just wow. The eye is super unique and the color of this lily is what I would consider a salmon. It’s one of my favorites and will continue to be.

  6. Don't tell

    DalriadaOne

Shhhh….Dont tell Oakes what a beautiful daylily this is and the price is surely a mistake! It has large pastel blooms but is not drab or washed out looking. It bloomed longer than any of my others in zone 7.. I planted some orange tiger lilies behind it. Just lovely!! A must have for your garden.

  8. Pastel but not pale

    Peggy Matson (verified owner)

Its blooms are pastel but not pale and subtle yet eye-catching. A beautiful peach (just like its photos) it would look great with darker colors. It’s blooming now and I love it!

  9. Melon color with pattern

    Darlene Otwaska

This is one of the most complimentary melon color daylily. It blends so well with other colors in my garden such as burgundy or purple. Love the pattern in the bloom. I can’t believe the price…a real bargain!

  10. Soft and understated

    Dave Cross

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 4

I have over 100 daylilies in my gardens and this is one of my favorites. It is so soft and understated until you get up close and then the real beauty of the bloom becomes apparent. I love this day lily!!

I planted Real Wind last fall and I got my first bloom this morning. It is absolutely gorgeous, the color is exactly like the picture. One other poster said it looks like orange sherbet and I agree – with a little raspberry sherbet in the center! I’m definitely adding this daylily to my favorite list..

Beautiful, orange sherbet-colored flowers! Not quite as bold as in the photograph, but definitely one of my favorite daylilies. Blooms profusely – – even the first year!

  16. One person found this helpful

    Goodlettsville, TN

Because I like contrasting eyezones, I ordered this one, even though the colors are not as bold as I usually like. However, when it bloomed, it showed its true beauty and is a winner. Had a lot of blooms and became a large plant in just one year. Can’t go wrong with this one.

I’ve had Real Wind for several years. I used to not care all that much for it, until last summer. Not only did it have many blooms, but most of the blooms had 8 or more petals. Now it’s one of my favorites.

The photo doesn’t really show how beautiful this daylily is. It is an orange sherbert color with a rose eye. Very classy! This was a bonus last year from Oakes. It was probably a variety I would not have ordered but now that I own it I can’t live without it. Thanks Oakes! I definetly recommend it!

I consider this a classic daylily. It performs well over a large geographic area, branches extremely well, and has excellent color. I will always have room for this one in my garden.
