WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!
ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Planted in July 2020. In 2021, lots of flowers in July, super pretty – pale peach with rhaspberry center, look like a carnation. In 2022, used Oakes fertilizer, and again a healthy plant, pretty flowers.

I received this plant as a bonus for two different orders! While I would probably not pick this plant, it is prolific and the little flowers have always doubled for me. The plants are prolific and hardy and look more like a carnation, as someone noted. This is a true rebloomer for me and the plants grow quickly.

Smaller doubles than normal which are kind of cute & means lots more blooms in my opinion.

Really love these! Over the last two years ,the number of blooms have multiplied. Petite in size of bloom compared to the rest of the types of daylilies in my yard but they truly stand out!

Tiny double for the front of the bed. We are not a huge fan of the color, but it doubles nearly every time it blooms.

I fell in love with it the moment I saw it in your sale barn. Bought it and it has knocked Pony (bought from Oakes in the 1990’s) off it’s number one spot all those years with me. Dewy Sweet is now number one, Pony drops to number two. Dewy is fragrant and beautiful, reminds me of little carnations. So many blooms at one time each day!

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 6
I was a little leery about buying these, but I did anyway to commemorate my horse Dewey. Turns out they are adorable. I thought they were so stinkin’ cute that I bought three more.

Mine is much more of a bright yellow and as the previous review stated, it looks like a triple. I know I didn’t buy this lily so that means one thing. It was a bonus plant from Oakes. I don’t particularly like doubles. Dewey changed my mind big time. It looks just like a carnation and this is just the first flower to open. It has 6 more shapes loaded with buds ready to put on a show this year. Thank you Oakes for the wonderful daylily to add to my collection. I will be much more open to doubles thanks to this one plant.

Our blooms look larger than the 3 1/2″ advertised. AND, it is much prettier than the picture. We liked it so much we have bought it twice. Loads of double (actually looks like triple) blooms.
