This large 6 1/2″ bloom grows on scapes around 2′ tall in our East Tennessee garden. A beautiful mid season bloomer, we typically see it in here in zone 7 around the middle of June. If you are to our north, you’ll begin to see it a few weeks after we do. If you live to our south, you’ll likely see it a couple of weeks before us. Good rebloom ensures we get to see brilliant orange in the garden off and on throughout the season.
Orange Vols is a dormant variety which means it is best grown in gardens that get a sustained cold period in the winter, like those in zones 3-8.
We love this daylily paired with anything but it looks great when paired with yellow or gold, hot pink or purple. We, of course, love it especially when planted with near white daylilies. As University of Tennessee grads, we are partial with orange and white!

WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

I ordered three of these plants in early spring and I’m coming back for more. Absolutely beautiful! I must admit that I’ve never given daylilies much thought, but Orange Vols has changed my mind. For anyone who loves orange in the garden, these are a must have.

I planted Orange Vols three years ago and it’s a pleasure to see its beauty every year. It’s a prolific bloomer and holds up well in the heat. It rebloomed the second year, but not the third year. I hope it reblooms this year.
