Huge, 9\" blooms on scapes around 26\" tall (the shorter end of mid-sized) in our East Tennessee garden. We find the huge blooms on shorter scapes make for an eye-catching display. There is something magical about seeing this daylily in the mid season garden, and we look forward to it each summer. You won't believe how striking this is in person!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs a mid season bloomer, we begin to see the welcoming blooms of Open Hearth around the middle of June. If you live to our north, you'll see them a bit after we do. If you live to our south, you'll notice them a couple of weeks before us. Nice rebloom means you get to see these beauties off and on throughout the season.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOpen Hearth is a dormant daylily. That means it is best grown in areas that receive a sustained winter cold period like those in zones 8 and lower.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThanks to its big, bold color and striking large throat, Open Hearth is especially lovely when planted with yellow or gold daylilies, but we find it to be simply gorgeous when paired with deep purple. It also looks unbelievable when planted en masse.
