HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

  1. Just beautiful!

I planted three of these beauties last fall and was I happy this summer when I saw the blooms in person! They were large, lovely, and the blooms just kept on coming. I have to also say a word about how healthy the shipped plants were upon arrival. I have yet to be disappointed shopping for daylilys at Oakes. Thanks!

A beautiful daylily! The pale whitish-yellow is peaceful and elegant. To top that off, it’s wonderfully fragrant! One of the nicest i own.

    Lovely

I grew this lovely Daylily in my Wisconsin home and now that I’ve relocated, I will be sure to add this to my new garden. Even grown in part shade on the SE side of our home, it bloomed well, had strong thick stems and indeed was as fragrant as described. However, it did not rebloom for me under those conditions. Its delicate coloring enhanced the more vibrantly colored flowers around it – both cool and warm shades. And was just beautiful with variegated foliage perennials. Absolutely a welcome addition to any garden. My one wish is that the petals had greater substance, as they tend to look a bit filmy as the flower wanes.

    LOVE SUNDAY GLOVES!

    thefantasticdontastic

First planting, first blooms soooo pretty. I bought it based on Oakes “very fragrant” comment and boy oh boy, it is! I can’t walk by without stopping to admire it closely and take a wonderful sniff of its fragrance. I am so very pleased with this plant. It gets late morn and noon sun only and is doing very well. zone 3 Wisconsin

I got my first bloom from Sunday Gloves last Sunday (very fitting). I now have several huge, nearly white blooms measuring 7″ across. This daylily is stunning and I highly recommend it.

Light, pale yellow. Looks almost white from a distance. While not my favorite color, Sunday Gloves does great in my garden. I am fond of the darker colors, but this one shows up well in the landscape. Another fast grower that divides easily.

What a great name for a fabulous daylily. Would probably rate a 10 if a bit whiter, but it will not disappoint accepted as is. This is truly an elegant bloom that will completely satisfy.

I had to have this daylily once I saw it at the Festival– it is perfectly beautiful in color and form and will go in the front of the border for all to see. It is an elegant looking flower and is appropriately named–can’t wait to see whether it will bloom profusely. I like the tidy greenery which adds to the beauty of the flower.
