Star Struck is a favorite of visitors when they come to our annual Daylily Festival. These large, 5″ blooms beckon people to “come see me!” as they grow on scapes just over 2′ tall in our East Tennessee garden. A mid to late season bloomer, we usually see these lovely bright blooms around mid-June here in zone 7. If you live to our north, you’ll likely see them a few weeks after we do. If you are to our south, you’ll probably see them a couple of weeks before us. Great rebloom means the season is extended further.

We think Star Struck looks perfect when planted en masse on its own, but it also looks completely gorgeous with nearly every other color of daylily! A light fragrance only adds to its appeal.

A dormant variety, Star Struck is best grown in planting zones that receive a sustained cold period during the winter.

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Planted these about one month ago and they’re really taken off. Obviously they like their new home in Kentucky.

This daylily is fantastic. I recently learned that Oakes was the hybridizer; makes me even more impressed with your company. Star Struck has won the blue ribbon at our county fair for several years running. Our fair is always the last week in July. Many of my daylilies are done by then. Just another reason to love her – she’s a late bloomer. I grow approximately 150 varieties. Star Struck is one of my top 5 picks.

I have had Star Struck for many years – in many different beds in my garden, and in landscaping. I have a narrow bed that runs the side of our garage only 3′ deep – with a grass strip on its other edge. It gets no morning sun, then 2 hrs direct and 2 hrs filtered sun on a west wall. They thrive there among large chartreuse hosta, mid season unnamed purplish red small/tall graceful daylilies, tall dark blue butterfly weed, and blue fall asters late fall. The colors are beautiful in the shade and all seems to get just enough sun to flourish. And Start Struck is the star! I LOVE this daylily! I have two dozen of them now – they work with anything in your garden!

Very eye-catching, Shows up great in the landscape. Much softer gold than Stella D’Oro.

I planted my Star Struck at the end of April, and I have to say that I am star struck. It’s a beauty!

WOW!!!! What a fantastic daylily. Huge, gorgeous blooms that really stand out. I just planted these plants last October (here in Zone 8a) and the following summer they are loaded with buds and blooms. There are so many nice daylilies that its hard to pick a favorite, but this has got to be one of them.

Another “winner” from Oakes! WOW! I can depend on Star Struck to shine beautifully throughout my landscape with big luscious blooms just as the other earlier varieties are dwindling. Very sturdy and a true “show stopper”! Carolyn Jacob

Gorgeous blooms, color and form – not much fragrance. Starstruck seems to be taking longer than some daylilies to get to the prolific bloom stage, but I love and cherish every ruffled golden melon bloom. My garden is 55 north of San Francisco, Sunset Zone 15 and I know dormant daylilies aren’t recommended for here, but I have four dormants, and two of them (Cedar Waxwing and Sparkling Orange)are among my most prolific bloomers.

Oh my goodness! I have not had good results from the All-American daylilies, I guess because Central Virginia has such an extreme climate — but Starstruck is amazing! My 2-year-old plant has 10 well-branched scapes and has been blooming for a month, with many blooms yet to open. If I could keep only one daylily, it might be this one!

I have many daylilies. Star Struck has jumped to the top of my favorites list. It was beautiful it’s first season, but now in it’s second season in my garden it is absolutely stunning. Strong and sturdy, standing up to rain and wind; and even though it has bloomed for a good while, it is still covered in buds for future blooms. I have fallen in love with this gorgeous bloomer! It’s beauty is almost impossible to describe.

Star Struck was one of 12 varieties I ordered for the 2004 season. It was by far the best bloomer. In fact, it bloomed from June into August. It is just as beautiful as it’s picture. If you want a great bloomer with good rebloom, don’t pass on this one.
