* 4 1/2″ bloom, 24″ tall, Mid-Late Season, Dormant

‘Royal Place Prince’ is a mainstay on our customer favorites list. It’s easy to see why– mauve lavender blooms have a lighter halo around a yellow and chartreuse throat, and a distinct midrib runs the length of the petals. Both stunning and fragrant, ‘Royal Palace Prince’ is a must!

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

one mature plant packed with blooms

    Carolyn J Pittman

I anxiously await the time when I know that Palace Purple is going to bloom. I don’t remember when I got this but I now have two healthy mature plants. It’s not a tall daylily, but I linger for more than a few minutes in order to inhale the beauty. Each mature plant puts on a show, with so many flowers its difficult to see the stalk. Try it, you won’t ever be disappointed.

I received this as a free bonus plant, and I was not very thrilled at first because the pictures seem…boring I guess. But it blew up nicely (grew vigorously) and the blooms are large and bright. I’m very pleased! Thanks Oakes!

    Stunning Bonus Plant

    Alexandria, VA (verified owner)

I will let you in on a secret. I did not order Royal Palace Prince. In fact, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it myself. I had other daylilies on my wish list, but then Oakes sent me Royal Palace Prince as BONUS plant and am I ever glad they did! I planted it in late May 2021 and it started to bloom on July 6th (zone 7a). It is by far the most vigorous and healthy daylily in my garden. It produced four tall scapes in a matter of weeks and it has probably produced seven or eight blooms thus far. I am so grateful to Oakes for sending me this beautiful daylily.

An oldie but goodie by Klehm!

    Elyce (Peterson) Cripps (verified owner)

I love this daylily! It is a later blooming variety so it really shines when some of my other daylilies are winding down. It has a gorgeous watermark which really sets it off in the garden and is a fabulous increaser!

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 4

So glad I got this one. First day of its bloom was during a violent thunderstorm of 2 1/2″, then later another 1 1/4. The next bloom I saw what it really looked like and it is gorgeous! A nice-size bloom, and I have to say, this was such a big plant when I got it, I divided it, and the division is the one that’s blooming!

This daylily is absolutely beautiful and gets more so every year. Unlike one reviewer noted, I think the color in the photos here on the website are very close to the color of mine in the garden. I garden in SE Michigan.

I planted Royal Palace Prince in the spring of 2014. Beginning in May (2015) they threw up an incredible number of scapes, continuing to produce flowers until early July. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and I plan to add a few more fans in that area. After flowering finished I’ve noticed a lot of new fans being produced.

The blooms are exceptionally beautiful, however, the one’s in my garden start out a ballet pink in the center and gradually get to a deeper shade of mauve pink at the tips. I would classify this as a “pink” instead of “lavender”, still I am exceptionally pleased with the color and the blooms.

Royal Palace Prince shows nicely in the garden and it was one of the taller ones. It bloomed it’s head off for at least 6 weeks! The blooms just kept coming! It was the last one to finish up. Be warned though, that the color is really close to purple and not the rose pink that’s shown. With the bloom time it’s a really nice one. I put it in the first of May and it bloomed this June into July in zone 8b. I gave it a 9 because the color wasn’t true to photo. Still pretty though.

The bright, happy colors of Royal Palace Prince would be welcome anywhere you put it, and it will command attention. We have it with a yellow on one side and a gold on the other and it is striking. And, at this price, how can you go wrong.

After 2 years of “garden tragedies” (bad city compost year 1; winter cat “visiting” year 2), three finally bloomed – ferociously!! 4-5 scapes per plant; huge bud count; much taller!! Two at 28″; one at 30″ I love this jewel!! The colors are stunning!!! First bloom July 18.

This daylily was the first to appear this year and it is an outstanding flower. I put this in the back border last fall and the blooms are not only gorgeous but very large and healthy. I will put out more this fall.
