HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Stunning and Unique in zone 5 Central Illinois

This is one of my favorite daylilies. It is a very unique color and even though it does sun fade it is still beautiful mine goes from the brown color to a light purplish color when sun faded. I love what I call full spider form it’s petals are not real skinny. Aside from the bloom being beautiful the whole plant grows very well and has way more than doubled in size in the last year. I have this planted in front of my greenhouse so I see it every time I walk in to the greenhouse which is several times a day.

    Love the color

    Robert Tucker (verified owner)

We got this to add to our bed of yellow daylilies for some contrast and I am so glad we did. It draws your attention even from a great distance and one of our guests thought at first that it was a fake daylily as she had never seen a daylily that color. Ours open quite dark and as they are in full sun fade by the end of the day, but even then it is beautiful and one of the most unique daylilies in our collection.

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 3

We are delighted with our daylilies we received! We ordered 9 plants and they are all robust! Got them in the ground and they are looking very happy – one plant even has a bud!!!! Thank you for such quality plants! Can’t wait for next year to see them put on a show!!!!!!! Very glad with our purchase.

I have had Quilt Patch in the garden for three seasons. It has not performed as well as most of my daylilies. The markings on the blooms that I have had have not been nearly as defined as those shown in the catalog and the scapes have been few. I have it in full sun but plan to move it to a location with partial shade to see if it will do better with a change in location.

First year for Quilt Patch for me and I’m very, very pleased. Blooms are large and such a different color combination. Had several scapes (7 to 10) and countless blooms this first year. And, it is reblooming! If you’re looking for a different daylily, Quilt Patch is the one.

I’ve got about three dozen cultivars including several I like a lot but I think this one is my favorite due to the richness of color and pattern. Very striking in the garden and gets lots of compliments. Very floriferous.

I planted this in the spring, and had a flower in July! Only one, but it was gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what it does next year!

This went in the ground 10-2008 & today had it’s first beautiful bloom. In full sun, the browns are more mauve and the darker eyezone is a purple. It is dusted in pearl. Petals curl & are a bit ruffled – already bigger than 5 inches. Can’t imagine how much more beautiful this plant will be over the years. This lily is a WOW.

Quilt Patch is an elegant daylily. Although in my garden, which receives the bright, hot Texas sun, Quilt Patch is more of a hot cocoa hue. This daylily is worth every penny due to its unique appearance. All of the daylilies I ordered from Oakes have bloomed shortly after being planted. What quality! Next season should be spectacular.

Blooms well, even in partial shade, which may be why the color is so pretty. It is a deep rust, orange and yellow. The flower is smaller than printed, may be because I have it in mostly shade, but It was prettier than I expected. I only bought one plant because I wasn’t sure of the color, but I am ordeing more.
