WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

I planted three clumps of Mary Todd in the summer of 2021 in my western WA zone 8b garden. Last year, I had a few blooms and this year, she’s gone wild! Huge bright yellow blooms that just keep coming. I counted 26 buds on one plant this morning. This one should be in everyone’s garden, it’s like a big yellow smile to greet you every morning.

Mary Todd has done exceptionally well in my North Alabama garden. In just two years they have grown so quickly and filled out the empty corner where they were planted. And the number of blooms!! I had an explosion of yellow in that corner of my garden for over one month!

I planted these Mary Todd’s in my Texas Zone 8b yard after bloom season in fall 2021. It is May 2022 and they are blooming like they have been here for years! Oakes is my “go to” daylily nursery. They always ship large, healthy, multi-fan plants.

Mary Todd is a real commander in chief in the garden. She makes the red and purple daylilies pop and pairs well with everything. Bright and cheery, she never fails to do her duty. Next year promises even more of her delightful blooms. The best is yet to come.

I divided my Mary Todd daylily and planted 3 clumps in a sunnier location and OMG! I literally have 50 blooms on each plant. They have formed a mound equivalent to the size of a small bush and the blooms are nonstop. The flowers are quite large and held high enough above the foliage that they really make a statement in the garden.

Mary Todd is a very reliable bloomer and needs no pampering at all. The yellow blooms are about 5 or 6 inches wide and the entire plant is vigorous and hardy. I give mine a sprinkle of Espoma Plant-Tone in the spring and I get tons of blooms. This is also a great daylily to plant at a distance from the house because the yellow color really pops – it can easily be seen from a distance. A clump of 3 plants is vibrant enough to be seen from the road.

I’ve had Mary Todd in my garden for 3 years and the clumps are huge. It’s pretty much indestructible. I planted mine next to Spirea Double Play Red and Miss Apple Siberian Iris – the combination of red and yellow is very pretty.

I received Mary Todd in late April 2018 by July I had 2 blooms which were a very vibrant yellow. I can’t wait to see her buds next season. I have Mary Todd planted in a full sun location. I am in zone 6 Kansas.

Although the flowers on Mary Todd are a very nice and a substantial pretty yellow, the fact it is one crazy wonderful reliable plant gives it a five value. Nothing hurts it, increases in clump size, it’s photogenic and it’s dependable. Great plant for landscaping or providing a bright contrast to darker colors.

Have had “Mary Todd” for many years. I moved it from IA to northern MN 6 years ago and brought it with me. It didn’t seem to mind the move at all and continues to bloom & bloom. Love to see it’s pretty face every time I step out into my garden. I counted over 50 blooms open at one time last summer and this year looks like it will also be a bumper crop! The huge blossoms never fail to amaze me! Spectacular plant!

Mary Todd is my favorite daylily out of 23 different daylilies in my garden! This is a powerful plant- vigorous grower, prolific bloomer and very hardy! I have shared this daylily a multitude of times and put it around in new places yearly- always pleased with the gorgeous performance the next year. Mary Todd is the epitome of daylilies- a true “friendship flower”. She just gives, and gives and gives…

Everyone should have Mary Todd in their collection! This plant grows like crazy, and bears tons of flowers. The flowers are huge and vivid, and can be seen from a great distance. This was one of my first daylilies, and I’ve had it for 8 yrs. I have divided it several times, and it just keeps coming back just as big the next year! This makes it a great daylily for sharing! While Mary Todd’s blooms and color are fairly plain, she becomes spectacular when in a huge mound with many huge blooms.
