HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

    She’s no crybaby!

    patstackk (verified owner)

I received my lullaby baby as a bonus plant in September, 2020 so I didn’t really expect much for the summer of 2021 since it takes time for the plant to establish its roots. So, I had a few lovely blooms of a warm pink on one scape the first year. (I know that many perennial plants like to “sleep the first year, creep the second, and leap the third”) But, this second year she showed me what a strong grower and bloomer she really is. This sweet baby out performed all my other Daylilies including ones that are in their third or fourth season of growth. She was one of the first to bloom May in my zone 7b (Southwest, VA) and continued to bloom steadily all summer long till she finally finished in late August. I just couldn’t believe it! What a workhorse! Each time I thought that she would certainly stop blooming, much to my surprise and delight, she’d again push up another scape with more fat buds. Just incredible! I actually had to divide the plant since she grew faster than I had anticipated.
If you are looking for a pale pink bloom that holds up well in rain without fading in the heat of summer, with sturdy medium height scapes that won’t quit, this little baby is the plant for you!! She is a real sweetheart of a baby!!

  2. Beautiful and Delicate

    Tim Clark

In my southern Ohio garden (zone 6), Lullaby Baby performs well. I like that it’s early and reblooms. Each bloom is perfectly formed and has the softest blush of pink to the cream colored bloom. It’s smaller which makes it great for the front of the bed. I highly recommend this variety. You’ll love the fragrance too!

    The favorite

    troublebreaker2000

I have a lot of daylilies and love them all but this one is the all time favorite. I post photos of my flowers almost every day but Lullaby Baby is my profile picture because it’s just that special. The subtlety of the color fascinates me. is it cream, or peach, or white or yellow. Every time I look at it I see it differently. in zone 9.

    An early favorite this year

I usually go for vivid colors but this pale peachy pink bloom stole my heart. This is my first year for day lilies so I’m hoping to see my new plants multiply and produce more blooms next year. I’m in Springfield, OR in Zone 8b.

    One tough daylily!

    Carol Kuhn (verified owner)

I have bought two batches of this fine little lady, and will buy another bunch during Free Shipping this fall. I live in harsh and unpredictable Kansas. These guys bloomed so fast [spring planting] that I was tempted to cut off the blooms just to save them the energy. But of course…I didn’t. Beautiful flowers on healthy plants. They can take a licking and keep on blooming.

    Carol King (verified owner)

I purchased my first lullaby baby to commemorate the birth of my first granddaughter! The small pale pink blossoms are abundant which extends the bloom time in my zone 4 Wisconsin garden. Now I give this variety as gifts to my friends who have a new baby or become grandparents. No better way to get them started on their love for daylilies.

This daylily is one of my favorites! The color is so soft and subtle and looks beautiful in my garden. I have several daylilies from Oakes and they are all gorgeous! I live in Colorado, zone 5b. I get compliments on my daylilies because they’re all different from what you find in the stores. Simply stunning! I am a repeat customer and expecting my next order this weekend–can’t wait to get them in the ground!

What a satisfactory and beautiful Daylily!!!

    loganbagley (verified owner)

I never knew how much I would love this one and I’m SO glad I ordered it 4 years ago when I did. I’ve had as many as 15 blooms at one time and the scapes are often over 3 ft tall. The blooms are consistently well formed and absolutely gorgeous, sometimes almost white looking and other times more peach/pink. I absolutely love these blooms and even though I have tended to go for more doubles or larger singles, this is one that thrills me! It blooms long and large!!

This daylily puts up so many blooms at one time. Then it comes back later and does it again. Not many daylilies do that in this hot and humid weather in North Florida.

This adorable Daylily was one of my freebies so I was extremely happy with how cute it is. I have since split it up so I can see it different places in the garden. It’s so ruffled friends are always surprised when I tell them it’s a Daylily. It’s light color blends with everything…just barely blushing.

Such a beauty wherever it is planted in sun or shade. Right now it is mostly shade and still sends up beautiful (to see and to smell) flower stalks. I have it planted in front of hostas and it is well deserving of its special spot. Even though it is a light color it is an eye catcher. zone 3 Wisconsin

I live in Maryland and this is the second summer for this daylily in my yard. It started blooming June 14 and now, on July 27 it still has a few blooms to go. Healthy and solid clumps, although quite a bit taller than advertised. One thing I like is the blooms are still beautiful in the evening when we are out on the patio.

    So Reliable

    Angela Morgan

I’ve had these in my yard for 5 years, and they’ve grown like crazy every year. They’ve filled out to form nice large clumps. They are supposed to be a shorter daylily, but mine are more like 2-3 feet tall! And they bloom for so long! This year they started blooming in the first week of July and were still putting out flowers in August.

    Great performer with beautiful color

    Cool Springs, TN

This daylily just glows with its delicate light pink blooms, drawing the eye into the garden. Set against the bolder colors of Frankly Scarlets, Wayside Royale, and Puple d’Oro, it holds its own. Though planted just last year and it’s already given a ton of blooms.

WOW, wow, and wow...so beautiful and strong........

    Manchester, TN (verified owner)

My sister gave me a starter piece and when I saw that first little bloom I was in love. No, it’s not a showy color and I’ll admit it’s not one I would have bought. But, when you see it in person….I don’t know…it’s just beautiful and perfect….I just want to keep staring at it. I then bought two more plants so I could have three in front of my Bella Lagosi’s (deep purple with green throat). They bloom earlier but are still blooming when my Bella’s start.

    Gentle Hue - Strong Constitution

    Daylily Lover

Lullaby Baby is a winner in every aspect. The delicate color is so beautifully soothing but don’t be fooled – this plant is tough – it survives our Wisconsin winters every year and just gets better and better. I’ve had the pleasure of Lullaby Baby in our garden for over five years and have divided it into several plants which have then thrived and provided more and more pleasure. This Baby matures into lovely plants just like the photos. You can’t possibly have a garden without it!!

This is starting my second year with Lullaby Baby and the first year for it to bloom. It is growing next to ‘Shishedo’ and both have just started to bloom at the same time. Oh my, how pretty these two are together. I could seem them intermingled, the pale pink of Lullaby Baby compliments the pink of ‘Shishedo’ so well. In my garden, both plants have scapes and fans close to the same size with this one’s flowers slightly smaller. Both have thick, strong scapes with lots of buds. I plan to expand the number of this one and invest in some more near whites!

A perfect little darling!!! Always loaded with tons of blooms, perfect ruffled shape with wondrous sparkle and shine!!! Always opens up perfectly, and here they are a pale yummy cream! I have had 2 of these for over 6 years and they are perfect each and every year, getting more and more flowers and it is just perfect in every way!! And even though the flowers are smallish, they are easy to deadhead unlike other smaller ones I have had.

Very cute! This was my bonus plant last year, and is blooming very nicely in ’09. PERFECT flower form! The first couple blooms were more cream, but now definitely a blush peach/pink over cream. Very pretty. Most impressed with how each flower has this perfect form, slightly ruffled, open wide, but not too much so you don’t see each petal. And they hold this form throughout the day. Also, it does sparkle in the sun! Enjoy!

Planted in mid-June last year, we are enjoying the first bloom now. Beautiful plants, lots of flowers! My only negative comment is that the color is more peach than pink in our soil – possibly due to the GA red clay?? It’s a pretty color, just not what I expected.
