WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

I planted a couple of Little Cadet daylilies to flank the entry to my new butterfly garden this spring. They are my favorite of the smaller front-of-bed daylilies I have… powerful colors, lots of blooms, and looks great in front of Lady Scarlet. Other flowers I combined in the area are Dainty Marietta marigolds and pink gaura with deep reddish foliage. To be honest I wish I had ordered more Little Cadets instead of Black Eyed Stellas. Similar colors, but better first year performance. I’ll be ordering more.

Little cadet is so cute but pay attention that it’s “so short” that if it wasn’t a bicolor it might fade into the background. As it is I didn’t see the strong yellow that’s shown in the photo but it’s still worth having if you don’t mind the size. (my fault for not paying attention to height) I gave it an 8 because of the lack of intense color.

Little Cadet was part of our early spring order and it grew well and bloomed beautifully. Apparently I try to collect every gold/red combination I find and, oftentimes order duplicates. That is what I did with this one and am not sorry. The small, brightly colored blooms are ‘just gorgeous’.
