WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.
ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I love this Day lily. The ribs and ruffles add so much personality to the daylily. The green throat is a surprise when you first see this flower. It is truly outstanding.

When it rains the water that falls upon the flowers even turns pink! I have 10 clumps of 20 in each clump and it’s such a stunning display to see them all in bloom!the color plays well with other shades of pink as well as various shades of purple

Planted this one in June 2020, didn’t think it would bloom this year. It now has 4 buds and the first one opened today. Gorgeous flower, study stem with a large bloom. If you want pink with ruffles and don’t want to spend a lot of money then this one is for you.

One of our favorites. We massed 6. First year was really nice. This year, the second, it was phenomenal. Tons of beautiful blooms. We gave them room to grow and they are spreading at a good rate. Definitely a midseason bloomer for us.

This was one of the first of my daylilies to bloom this year, and I was very pleased to see that it’s rebloomed in mid-July this year as well.

I’ve had this one 3 years and it keeps getting better. It is a short, bushy plant w/ huge flowers, they show up from a block away. It keeps on re-blooming and the flowers are gorgeous. In cooler weather it looks like the photo and in 80s-90s it is a paler pink, like a seashell. A true pink, not peachy. Whenever I pass it I want to run and get the camera. The Evergreen varieties are not always cold-hardy for me, but this one has kept coming back without any special treatment.

I planted several Jolyene Nicholes in March and they are blooming beautifully in May. Jolyene Nichole is even prettier than in the picture. This one is a solid 10.

There is everything to like with this outstanding daylily; the vibrant color, the large size on shorter scapes, the wonderful ruffling, and the contrasting veining. Liked it so much I bought one a couple years earlier, at a higher price. Then at the festival this year, received one as the gift, and will find a spotlighted place for it. Can never get enough of this great daylily.

Love this daylilly! Mine are more apricot than this photo and rebloom consistantly for me. I have been able to divide them yearly for family and friends with out loosing any of their intensity.

This daylily is as close to perfect as a daylily can get. It brags of a huge bloom set on a small plant. It is great for boaders! And the color is lucious!

The color is lighter than this picture, but this is one of my very favorites. This year it surprised me by reblooming in my sister’s garden. I’ve never seen it listed as a rebloomer, but it had several lovely blooms very late in the season.

The color on mine is not a deep pink, but a light pink. It’s not a profuse bloomer, but it is a desirable size. If “Happy Returns” is planted at the front of the border, this is just the right size to plant just behind it, and the colors of both blend well.

This was my free bonus plant, planted in mid-April. It was my first daylily to bloom, mid-May. It has the most gorgeous, large flowers. The petals are lighter pink than in the photo, with noticeable dark pink veining and a larger yellow throat. It is also beautifully diamond-dusted. Thank you for this outstanding flower!

Big bloom on short scapes, VERY TRUE. I’d say mine is more on the 14 inch tall side. At first I thought its growth was stunted because I had moved it, but realize now that it will always be short. Its very beautiful, unusual to see such a large flower on a small scape. 1st bloom early June -Zone 9

A must have. The pictures do not do it justice. Every time I walk by it I have to kneel down and admire it close-up.

This was one of my free plants, and it wasn’t something I has looked at before. But now that it bloomed, I love it! The blooms are a beautiful shade of pink, and when there are several open at once, they take your breath away. This is one I will have to move this fall, because it isn’t very tall, so it can be seen better next year.
