HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

    Gorgeous

I ordered these last year and planted at my old house, but in the fall I moved, so I dug them up and planted them in rather hostile conditions, hoping not to lose them. To my great delight, they all survived and are blooming. Absolutely beautiful!!! The outer color is more peach/apricot than pink, but the center is a lovely deep rosy pink — and that chartreuse throat, oh my. Best, they have a shimmer like a perfect soft blush. I absolutely love them and a couple of gardening friends agree, saying they are the prettiest they’ve ever seen!
    PS — OAKES IS FABBO!

Best Bloomer in Pretty in Pink

What is your hardiness zone? Zone 6

I ordered the Pretty in Pink collection, but when they came, it was snowing! I had to wait a week to plant them, and then the deer ate them. Janice Brown is the only one that bloomed this year, and I even got a rebloom. Very pretty and tough.

This is my favorite daylily. Not too tall and the blooms are a clear and lovely color with no fading. It does very well in Spokane, Washington.

I have had Janice Brown in my garden for 4 years but I knew the first year that this a great daylily. It was a nice clump by the 2nd year and blooms profusely: 220 buds the 3rd year and 350 buds the 4th year. Winter hardy in our very difficulty N. Idaho climate. Oh, and she is beautiful with perfect blooms every time. She is the definition of a great all around daylily.

This one is slower to multiply, at least for us. But the color is great, and it produces a nice amount of blooms over a long period.

Well, you can guess why I have these in my garden – they are more peachy colored than pink but i love them. My local nursery ordered them for me and I got about 8 but they had 8 more. I kept going to see them feeling like I was abandoning them so I kept buying more of them – yup I got all 16

Better than 10! Beautiful colors on beautiful form, produced on well-branched scapes with lots of buds, becoming a parade of perfection. Then a second round of scapes keeps the parade going on most plants. Looks well-proportioned in a clump. Hardy (7 years), and grows and multiplies well here. Shorter scapes urge planting it near-the-boder-edge, all the better to admire it.
