WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!
FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order and are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us and we’ll pick something you’re sure to love!
ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

I was treated to this awesome rebloomer in late October in the NC mountains. As all the other daylilies were getting ready for winter ,Golden Prize was heavy with blooms. This is the second year it has rebloomed heavily late in the season. The color mixed well with all the fall colors.

The big blooms and the vivid gold color really color that late garden. A strong grower in my garden, the added bonus is the reasonable price!

Although I only recently purchased these day lilies, I must state I am VERY impressed with them. Very healthy plants. The photos are how they look after less then a month in the ground. Can’t wait til they bloom. Definitely will purchase again!!

This daylily is a late season bloomer that is vivid in color. It grabs your attention when you survey the garden. Striking to say the least.

I received this one from Oakes in the spring of 2017. It did not bloom last year, but bloomed for forty-one days this summer, today, Aug 24th being it’s last day. As it seems to be an older variety, I was taken by surprise by it’s wonderful branching and good bud count. Golden Prize has large, bright flowers and is a super season extender. Big thumbs up!

This thing is like a beacon in the garden. It just keeps getting bigger and spreading and everybody wants a piece of it!
A hot school bus yellow color & just brightens up everything. It gets extremely hot here but Golden Prize doesn’t wilt or seem too bothered.
And my soil is poor so I am really happy

The first thing I see when I come down my drive is the golden beacons in a thatch of green of these beauties! They are regal, brightly colored, big blossoms that just keep on comin’!
Anyone who loves daylilies should have a few of these. They will become your favorite , as they have mine.

You just think things are yellow in your garden until this guy blooms. Then you see what real yellow is. Such a rich color and faint fragrance makes this a wonderful addition to the garden.

A Splendid Daylily! This one came free for me, and I absolutely love it. The color and shape are exquisite. This is an odd year in terms of weather here in Chattanooga, and in early June most of my daylilies are finished! Golden Prize has been blooming profusely since early June (its first year), and it is about the only one still going. And I am thankful that it will have rebloom to stretch my blooming season longer. The color is almost identical to Mary’s Gold, which is nearby, though it is not QUITE as large. The one daylily in bloom yesterday on a gray, overcast day, it looked as lit up as if it were in sunshine. Wonderful for lifting my spirits.

I am still having weird results from this plant. It’s stem is about 2 inches high. It is planted near other types that are full height. Gets morning shade from house, afternoon full sun. The flower looks like the catalog picture, but is it? This is the 3rd season for Golden Prize. I think I will move it this fall.

This is a stunning daylily! In the morning the brilliant color is breathtaking! By dusk, the color has faded a small amount where it seems to glow in the gathering dark. Strong plant and blooms which stay beautiful all day even in our heat and humidity.

WOW!!! This was my free plant, didn’t think it would be much. Planted it last summer and it bloomed. I was so wrong!! Neighbors would stop and ask me what kind of flower it was and tell me how beautiful it was. One of my favorites, the name is very fitting. The only thing is it did not rebloom for me last year that is why I did not give it a 10. Can’t wait to see it this year, hopefully it will rebloom. A must buy for your garden and you can’t beat the price!!

Great daylily, but up north it blooms too late to get good rebloom. Nice late season bloom all the same.

First year has huge sturdy glowing gold blooms. Have it in front of pines and it stops you cold when in bloom. It’s name is right.

Wow! This is the prettiest in my garden so far! I planted 4 last year, and they have outdone themselves. I can’t wait to see them next year!

Fantastic, large golden-yellow flowers that really stand out in the landscape. Excellent rebloom, even a third time. One of our favorite daylilies!!!

This huge gold is such a bargain, worth every penny and more. Ours bloomed later, and rewarded us with glowing blooms when others were finished. Need to find a spot for this one.

Very bright daylily! It looks great against my purple and pink daylilies. In my garden it is a little shorter and bloomed very late. Nice looking.

I planted these in fall & spring and all plants bloomed beautifully, even in heavy clay, and after most of my other lillies were fading out. The flowers are a bright gold and nicely proprtioned to the plant. What a bargain!
