Fooled Me is a prolific bloomer. Thanks to its golden yellow blooms and striking red eyezone and edge (can we talk about that gorgeous, lightly ruffled red edge?! Oh goodness!!) we think it looks especially beautiful when planted with red and/or purple daylilies, but it looks equally lovely just on its own.

A dormant daylily, Fooled Me performs best in planting zones that get a sustained cold period during the winter. Here in zone 7, we look forward to seeing its big, cheery blooms in our East Tennessee garden each June. If you are to the north of us, you can expect to see it a few weeks after we do. If you are to our south, you can look forward to seeing it a couple of weeks before us.

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

    Statement lily.

If you want a lily to shout “perfect and bright” for EVERY bloom, this is the one. There’s a reason it won daylily’s highest honor. Long bloom time and isn’t bothered by anything. Healthy large clumps and inexpensive.

Probably the most drop dead gorgeous daylily I have seen from Oakes, and i have been ordering plants from this company, dozens of varieties, for at least ten years now. If you want a showy, vibrant, attention-getting daylily, this is the one. Colors are true to the picture and the flowers are big, bright and bold, with the plants blooming well first year within a few weeks of spring planting. I just ordered some more today after looking at the ones I have outside my window.

This is a wonderful daylily. I have had 150 or so daylilies over the pas 15 years, some good and some not so good. This is one of the winners here in cold N Idaho. It knows how to get it’s head up high and bloom well. It stands out in the garden and grows well with lots of buds.

Huge bud count, and so, lasts forever in the garden. Every flower is perfect, too. Only two years in the ground, and needs to be divided. Lots to share!

WOW ! I purchased this daylily last year and could not wait to see it in blossom this year. Fooled Me is a knock out in the garden. You do not have to look for it because it demands attention and I have 110 varieties of Oakes Daylilies. The flowers are large and the red stands out against the yellow. Beautiful ! Absolutely beautiful. It was a bit pricey but worth every cent.

This is the second bloom season for this lily in my garden. The blooms are large and scream for attention. It is a beautiful lily and a real show-stopper.

Fooled Me is blooming for the first time since I planted it late last fall. The color is intense and the flower very large and showy. There are many buds that will be opening soon. I couldn’t be more pleased with Fooled Me.
