Looking for a big time bloomer? Then look no further than ‘Darla Anita’. This lavender pink blend with a gold edge typically has five branches with 40 buds. Outstanding! This beautiful daylily is not registered as reblooming, although we have seen it rebloom in our display garden.
If you want to add some ruffles to your breeding program then Darla Anita will add them. I have used this one many times in my early breeding and those curly, abundant ruffles are passed on. One downer I would have to say is because there are so many curly ruffles, the blooms don’t always open up because they get tangled together. It is a beautiful flower that I have had for several years. Zone 3 Minnesota.
Darling Anita is one of the most unusual and beautiful daylilies I have. First of all her color is slightly different from flower to flower and she flowers for a very long time. The purple varies and the pink ruffles are so faint that they nearly glow. Darling Anita is also unusual because she is slightly waxy, and the flower is relatively thick compared to other daylilies that I have. She resembles “Artist Etching” but when you put the two together you see the differences. I think of her as being in the perfect wedding bouquet. I really am amazed at her glory.I think everyone should buy this daylily and plant it close to where they walk. This is my second year with her and she came out in full glory.
Beautiful flower. This is my first year with daylilies from Oaks. I have had ‘hand down’ daylilies in the past. Everything I have ordered has bloomed except for two varieties. One of those is producing buds at this time. We are in Zone 9 so we get early blooms. The only problem I have had with this variety is the buds have a hard time opening due to the ruffles getting stuck to each other. If you have a ‘solve’ for this problem I would love to hear it!
This daylily is amazing. This was the first season I had it, and it gave me lots of blooms. And the flowers are amazing. Daylilies are my favorite flower, and I think this one has become my favorite daylily. Beautiful.
I left a review on this daylily last year, but couldn’t resist commenting again. So many blooms and has been going for 3 weeks. Now I see three new stems rising with all new buds to follow this round. I was stunned and delighted. If you don’t buy this beauty you are really missing out!
I have had ‘Darla Anita’ for three years. I kept neglecting to buy it because it was pricey, but I finally broke down. It is worth far more than I paid. This summer it has caused everyone who has seen it to gasp! All my visitors have taken pictures and more pictures. The flowers are huge with ruffling that cannot be described. The color is beyond interesting. It is at the top of my list and I have dozens of daylilies. ‘Darla Anita’ and ‘Persian Market’ are my two favorites. If you love daylilies, this is a must have!!!!
This is my first year with Darla Anita. I’m extremely pleased. Has a gorgeous large ruffled bloom that really stands out in my garden and gets lots of praise. I highly recommend Darla Anita.
Darla Anita is my 3rd favorite daylily of all time. It scores a 10 in beauty. It is so gorgerous with its lavender self and gold edges. It is a 10 in its abliltiy to bloom. It explodeds in blooms. Why a 7 then? Darla Anita is very fussy. I’ve had to replace her 4 times. If you order her, talk to her nicely and DON”T move her. I still highly recommend her because of her unsurpassed beauty. If she dies again I will have to replace her. I so glad Oakes has added her to their collection. Run do not walk to own her and good luck!

It’s pretty simple: most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter, dormant varieties won’t work for you; you need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.
We normally include bonus plants equal to about 20% of your order. And these aren’t “leftover” plants, or “whatever we’ve got lying around.” These are the same huge, healthy plants we sell. Just leave the decision up to us— we’ll pick something we know you’ll love!
Daylily Stickers!
After the year we’ve all had, we’re trying to wring whatever joy we can find out of every day— even Tax Day*. So we put our thinking caps on and thought, “What is silly and fun and makes everyone happy?”.
That’s when it hit us: stickers! To make your day brighter, we are offering 13 stickers free with every order today through April 19!!!
Stick ’em on your water bottle, your cooler, your laptop (even your wheelbarrow!) or wherever else you could use a bit of cheery color.
*We know that Tax Day has officially been moved to May 17. Since today is traditionally Tax Day, though, we’re going for it.
