HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

Addie Branch Smith has become one of my very favorite daylilies. It blooms profusely, and the color is just stunning. I have mine planted towards the front of the bed. I divided some last year, and now have two large clumps.

Received 2 plants as bonus plants in early 2020, both had minimal growth and flowers, very pretty. In 2021, only one plant survived, no flowers. In 2022, no flowers. In 2022, used Oakes fertilizer as directed. Other daylillies had more blooms with the fertilizer. In zone 6a.

    Not for rusty areas.

It was a bonus plant. I asked for any evergreen. This dormant was sent. Got rust quick. Pulled this morning. Sad to see it go. Not for rusty areas.

Pretty daylily. It didn’t bloom for me though until the second summer and it still didn’t have that many buds. Maybe it will do better this year

Beautiful blooms first year in an area that doesn’t get full sun all day-blooms are exactly as shown on this site-although in July not June. All Three of them are performing nicely.

The ‘Addie Branch Smith’ sisters toughed it out in the hottest garden patch. This 6-pack bloomed steadily from late May to late June (zone 8b). Although the blooms weren’t as vibrant as those pictured in the catalog (considering the blast furnace-like conditions), they were still very pretty to look at poised above their deep blue-green foliage.

This one is gorgeous, brighter and prettier than the photo. It’s a unique color between rose and mauve. I love the eyezone. It blends beautifully w/ my red and purple daylilies. I took off 1 point because it didn’t bloom or do much of anything the first year. Now it has 4 scapes full of flowers. It’s bigger than described: the flowers are easily 5″ and it’s 25″ tall, so mine doesn’t look like a miniature variety. Definitely a keeper, and great price too.

Added ‘Addie’ to our garden this spring and did not expect many blooms. However, she did produce several that were spectacular; much prettier than the picture. This is a favorite and one I show off to all visitors.

Grows well here, and does bloom. But the color is not nearly as intense as the photo indicates, at least for us. The purple appears washed out.

I love them! They are a prolific bloomer and begin around the end of June. They are very pretty and the mound stays small and green all season long.
