Dear Friends and Fellow Gardeners,
In the early 60's my father and I were walking through a local shopping mall when we happened
upon a display of daylilies placed there by a local daylily club. It was a glimpse into a world of
color and form that we didn't know existed. We could hardly believe these beautiful blooms were
related to the mundane species daylilies that grew in profusion along our road sides.
Starting with only a few plants, things rapidly got out of hand. We were definitely hooked then,
and forty-five years later our family is no less enthusiastic as we discuss the merits of the
ever more beautiful and refined cultivars being produced each year.
It has been our goal to identify and grow the best plants available — the plants that today
sparkle with even brighter colors, more unusual forms, that are hardy and easy to grow. Flowers
that if you happen upon them will lift your spirits and give you a peek into a world you may not
know existed.
Sincerely,
Stewart Oakes
